Factor Responsible for Facebook Payment Method Not Working in India
There are two methods of payment used by Facebook- automatic and manual.
The Automatic Method- It is like a post-paid service which is the default method. The payment has to be made after Facebook generates an invoice. Facebook India charges after you have spent Rs. 1000 on Facebook ads. The charge will be automatically deducted from the debit or credit card you added as the payment method. However, the issue is that Indian banks do not allow automatic payment due to security reasons. When this method is used people get the error message. To get this issue resolved Facebook introduced manual payments. The Manual Method- This is like a prepaid service. You can add credit balance to your Facebook account manually using your credit or debit card. This solves all the issues as people are now able to get Facebook ad credit. This method allows a lot of payment methods as well.
The Solution
This issue can be resolved by using the mobile version of the Facebook ads manager as the desktop version would not help. The step-by-step guide is given below:
Install the Facebook ads appOpen the app and choose your ad accountGo to SettingsGo to Payment Methods under the Billing sectionEnter the amount you want to addClick on the payment method and select the payment methodYou can choose from debit card, credit card, PayTm, net banking, and UPIThe added money will appear as a prepaid balance in the ad account
This will automatically make your account switch to manual payments. From next time onwards, you can make the payment from your desktop directly. However, there is a catch. If you have already initiated the automatic payment method, switching to manual payments is not possible. You will get the error message, “This payment method is not currently supported please enter a different method.” In a situation like this, a new ad account has to be created and initiated with a manual payment method by following the process mentioned above.
