When would the feature be available?

Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook now Meta posted, “We’re rolling out call links on WhatsApp starting this week so you can share a link to start a call with a single tap.”

About the feature

The users can join ongoing calls as of now. However, the new feature will make things a bit easier. People would be able to share the call link and others can join whenever they want within the length of the call by clicking the link. The ‘Call Links’ will be available to all users soon as it has started to roll out. You may update the app if it does not happen automatically. Feature useful for

This option would prove useful to people who conduct their business on WhatsApp but host meetings on other platforms. Now they can do everything on WhatsApp effortlessly without them or others downloading another app to host or attend the calls. Watch this YouTube video:

However, the number of participants would relatively be less as compared to other platforms. Zuckerberg said that encrypted video calling for 32 participants or less is under testing. There is no information on when it will be available for users though. At present, WhatsApp permits up to 8 people to join a video call. If WhatsApp can offer what it intends to and make more people join a call, it could give tough competition to Zoom and Google Meet.
