The official blog post said, “To help people feel more comfortable, we’ve been working on a lower pressure way for people to talk about what’s happening. Today, we’re launching Fleets so everyone can easily join the conversation in a new way – with their fleeting thoughts.” The goal is to boost the overall time users spend on the social service — by making people comfortable with sharing content more spontaneously. Fleets are for sharing momentary thoughts – they help start conversations and only stick around for 24 hours. The new Twitter fleet feature also allows the app users’ to Fleet text, reactions to Tweets, photos or videos and even customize Fleets with different background and text options. As the feature made its way to the dashboard, while some users were excited to have this avenue of communication, the others wondered users, what Fleets was after it appeared without explanation. Some Twitter users who have already started experimenting with the tool felt that the new feature raises concerns on harassment by allowing unwanted direct messages.
