The feature was only available for use for select users in its beta testing phase, but now, after receiving the approval from the National Payments Corporation on India (NPCI). NPCI also added that a 30 percent cap will be applied on total payment volumes via every third party payments app from 1 January 2021. Now you can send money to your friends and family through WhatsApp as easily as sending a message. There’s no fee and it’s supported by more than 140 banks. How To Make Transfer Using WhatsApp Payment Feature in India?
To initiate payment via the WhatsApp payment feature, a user will need to have a registered bank account and a debit card. To make a transaction, it will also be important to have a valid 4-digit UPI pin to make transactions. Follow these simple steps to activate the WhatsApp payment feature:

The advantage of WhatsApp Payments is that it will not allow you to send money to WhatsApp contacts but also to people who are not registered with WhatsApp Pay. As per WhatsApp, there will be no extra charge for the transaction, however, you will be able to make a limited number of transactions in a day (10 or as per UPI guidelines). However, Facebook-owned messaging app has also clarified in its terms and conditions section that it will not be liable for any payment mishaps. The official blog post by WharsApp stated, “We’re delighted to be working with five leading banks in India: ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, the State Bank of India, and Jio Payments Bank.
