As per a post on Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station, Redmi will launch its first gaming smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. Redmi’s General Manager Lu Weibing also confirmed the same, and hinted that the gaming phone is expected to launch this year itself. His post said, “After two generations of product iterations, Redmi’s flagship K series has been well-known in the flagship market. K40 will be released next month. Also attracted much attention. In future, Redmi will continue to focus on its flagship market and continue to enrich its flagship product series.” The post further read, “In 2021, Redmi will focus on e-sports and launch Redmi’s first flagship gaming phone. Bring the flagship e-sports experience to the fans of a price that cannot be refused, so stay tuned.” Although the company has not released any information on the Redmi new flagship phone. We also do not know how soon it will launch. However, we expect the gaming smartphone to have a high refresh rate, a big battery capacity, as well as super-fast charging for uninterrupted fun. It is said to have 108-megapixel camera along with two 13-megapixel sensors on the back. On the front, it is said to sport 6.4-inch OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and full HD+ resolution. The Dimensity 1200 is a 6nm chipset with four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. It hosts a Cortex-A78 core that is clocked at 3.0GHz. It also has a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU which is adept in handling any game thrown at it. It is said to give stiff competition to Mali-G78 that is found in the Exynos 1080, Exynos 2100, and Kirin 9000/9000E chipsets.
