According to a report in GSM Arena, WhatsApp will soon release an update that will bring the companion mode that will allow users to use the same account on another smartphone. Currently, WhatsApp has launched a beta version – 2.22.24.18 for Android. So, there’s no denying that the companion mode is in the testing phase. As per the beta version of the update, WhatsApp will allow users to link up to four Android smartphones to their primary account and get access to all the other features of WhatsApp. That said, it is still not clear if the new feature will be available on iPhone and Apple devices. The report also states that the beta users can activate Companion Mode by going to the options menu on the registration screen and by selecting ‘Link a device from the dropdown menu. As of now, this feature is rolled out to only a few beta users and will be available to all soon. While WhatsApp users can access their existing account only on one smartphone, they can link up to four devices such as tablets and laptops. In addition to the Companion Mode feature, the latest beta version for Android also allows users to link an Android tablet. However, this feature is available to only a few beta testers and is found in the linked devices beta option under the devices section of the settings menu. The pairing process is easy and is accomplished by scanning a QR code.
