How to Disable the iPhone 5 Camera Sound (Guide with Pictures)
There are many reasons why you might want to turn off this sound. Whether you are taking a picture of a sleeping pet, or you are trying to discreetly capture an image in a public setting, having that unmistakable shutter sound go off is a telltale sign that you have just snapped an image. By turning off that sound you can feel free to take whatever pictures you want without anyone nearby being any the wiser.
Step 1: Touch the Camera icon on your phone to open the application.
Step 2: Move the Mute switch on the left side of the phone so that you can see an orange stripe above it.
Step 3: You should then see a mute icon on your screen.
Step 4: Take the picture(s) that you wanted to take without hearing the shutter sound.
Step 5: Move the Mute switch back so that your phone is not muted.
If you do not move this switch back, then you will not hear any of your notifications or incoming phone calls. Please note that laws in certain countries may affect your ability to use this feature. Some countries (or devices purchased in some countries) may not permit users to disable the camera shutter sound.
