Transfer chat from WhatsApp to Telegram
It is only yesterday that Telegram introduced this new feature wherein users who intend to switch to the messaging app can now transfer chat from WhatsApp to Telegram. Users can simply import chat history from WhatsApp, meaning no one switching to the app will lose on to important information, images, videos, etc. This new version for iOS is available with version 7.4. Telegram has also announced that Android users can also transfer chats from WhatsApp as well as other apps like Line and KakaoTalk. To Transfer chat from WhatsApp on iOS
Open the Contact Info or Group Info page in WhatsApp, tap Export Chat, then choose Telegram in the Share menu.
In case you are using an iPhone, you can even export chats directly from the chat list. To do the same, Swipe left on a chat, then choose ‘…’ > Export Chat.
To Transfer chat from WhatsApp on Android
Open a WhatsApp chat, tap ⋮ > More > Export Chat, then choose Telegram in the Share menu:
Remember that while transferring chat from WhatsApp to Telegram, all the messages will be will be imported into the current day and will even include their original timestamps. The import process works on a chat-by-chat basis, but appears to work for both individual and group conversations. The messages imported into chats will sport a small “Imported” label on them stating when they were originally sent, and when they were transferred to Telegram. Also, all members of the chat on Telegram will see the messages. The advantage of transferring all the chats is that the messages and media does eat up extra space. This is because, unlike older apps that make you store all data on your device, Telegram takes up virtually no space while letting you access all your messages, photos and videos anytime you need them. Furthermore, you can even free up space and control the cache size. To do so:
Go to Settings> Data and Storage > Storage Usage
Along with being able to transfer chats from WhatsApp to Telegram, there have been several other improvements like being able to adjust volumes for individual voice chat participants, or reporting “fake groups or channels” that are trying to imitate famous people or organizations.
